2023年度 第2回 情報科学研究所講演会のご案内（2/22開催）

科学研究と人工知能の分野において、因果関係の発見はデータからの関連性を評価するよりも重要であり、

同時に困難な課題でもあります。この重要なテーマに焦点を当て、このたび、この分野で長年研究し、

多くの研究成果を出されている北京工商大学教授（北京大学名誉教授）耿 直先生を講師にお招きし

講演会を開催いたします。

基本的な事柄から最新の研究成果を分かりやすく講演していただけるので、大学生も短大生も是非参加下さい。

講演タイトル：Causal Inference: Effects of Causes & Causes of Effects

　　                  -因果推論: 原因の結果と結果の原因-

講演要旨：

Due to confounding factors, there may be a spurious association between two variables,

but no causation. In scientific researches and artificial intelligence, discovering causation is

more critical and challenge than evaluating association from data.We shall introduce the three levels

of causation: Association,Intervention and Counterfactuals proposed by Pearl & Mackenzie (2018).

We shall illustrate Simpson paradox about spurious association and the surrogate paradox about

intransitivity of causation.Further we discuss about evaluating the effects of causes and

deducing the causes of effects by statistical data analysis.
